just curious, how bad does the go launcher drain your battery? and does it matter on what settings you have enabled as to if it will kill the batter?(transitions and what not) and ive heard it actually can make your phone run faster.. is that true? and are there any other ways to make your phone run faster? other then disabling stuff in the phone.. ive heard roms and stuff help that?

Having transistions and widgets and things, will always effect battery life. Although they use only a small portion of it. Sort of what makes it nice to have an android vs say, nokia.

I don't advise removing your launcher. Especially from a branded phone.

To extend battery life, the easiest is to check the settings for each app, looking at auto update intervals/synching/notifications. If not crucial to your daily needs, you can set the frequency to say, 3 hrs, 4hrs, or never/manual. This helps a ton and is usually the biggest battery drain. Expecially if it uses Wifi. Always leave Wifi off, along with bluetooth unless necessary.

Custom Roms, will always help battery life and speed, as they are more efficient, and do not come with preinstalled bloatware from branded carriers. Keep in mind, most custom Roms usually do not have HTC Sense or Motoblur for example, although a couple come with sense.

Keep in mind, rooting and Rom, technically voids your warranty, although I haven't heard any cases where they denied service because of it.

WiFi consumes significantly less juice than 3G/4G radios. You should always leave it on if you're in an area with WiFi.
