Google Voice And Texts
I Installed the Google Voice app since I have my sprint number linked with it... Now, Google Voice completely takes over the text messages, meaning that it no longer will send my txts directly to the phone via its normal text messaging app... I love the default text messaging application, and rather hate the way Google Voice has its text messages laid out..
So please, if anyone knows of a way to get it to default back to the normal texting app, let me know! I only installed the Google Voice app because i wanted to have visual voice mail, and the normal voice mail app never worked since Google Voice handles my voice mail... So please, someone help?? - 06-22-2011, 08:11 PM

Only thing that I have found that works.. Is unlinking your sprint number from google voice... VERY disappointing... I love google voice, but if it is going to just up right destroy text messaging without giving you a single freaking option on how its controlled, then I'm through with it.. I'll just use google voice as an emergency solution only.. like, when my service gets disrupted because of the bill not being paid or something, cause at least then i can still text using the google voice number..
This sorta thing REALLY pisses me off, and this needs to be fixed before I EVER integrate again.. - 06-23-2011, 12:31 PM #5
You can enable SMS forwarding to get SMS in your other messaging app but you'll still get the messages in the GV app. If you don't want SMS in the GV app at all then you'd have to not use GV.
If you only want VM transcription then set up conditional call forwarding like everyone not on Sprint (without integration) does. Check with Sprint for instructions on setting up conditional call forwarding to your GV number. You'd need to use your Sprint number for SMS.
Not sure what you expected. Integrating means that your text message (aside from MMS) only come to you via GV -- precisely what you've experienced first hand. To undo that you'd need to undo integration.
Your dislike for the GV app != "destroy text messaging". You can send and receive text messages just fine. You just don't like the GV app and don't know how to do what you're looking for. Conditional call forwarding should do what exactly what you're looking for unless you've omitted some information in your posts.
Let Sprint know. GV didn't integrate with Sprint without their cooperation.Last edited by takeshi; 06-23-2011 at 12:38 PM.
