When I plug my phone into my laptop via USB (I want to transfer pictures), my phone doesn't show up anywhere as a connected storage device. I tapped the USB storage button, but when I go to "my computer" nothing is there. What am I doing wrong?

You probably need to load the drivers for the samsung.

You should have a CD for your device.
I didn't have a CD with the phone, but I downloaded and installed the driver from the samsung site. Now instead of doing nothing, it says "device not recognized" and it still doesn't show up.

You can try to download generic android drivers. Basically from the android dev kit. Then go to device manager, and have them manually installed from there.

I've downloaded the driver for my phone and it still comes up "unknown device." When I go to device manager and try from there, I get a "code 43" error. Yes, I'm out of my league. Have no clue ....
