Re: Turn your Android into a Mobile Laboratory
In short: for anything, it is an universal mixed signal interface.
The key point is, that we have defined the 4-pin jack, that has digital and precision analog interface, and may interface quasi just any type of sensor you would like, from resistive (as pt1000 temperature sensors), thermocouples (since silicon offers internal amplification), digital sensors, as it offers 1-wire, uart, i2c, ... and of course, it may also power the board. By other means it extends the phone with various interfaces. So we started with the thermometer application, as first, other are in progress. If you are an electronics guy you may add sensors of your own and use the open API, or there is also a possibility to show sensor data without programming anything, by using our message layer protocol (which can be stored in i2c device).
