    Default Ota updates

    How far along the rooting process do I go with a stock rom & still be able to recieve updates/

    None. It's one or the other. If you root you take no OTA's.

    My Nexus 7 just is stock, but unlocked and rooted. I just finished installation of the 4.2.2 update, OTA. Granted, I got an error message after the initial reboot, regarding a missing md5 file, but it still went through with the install, and after pressing the power button, it rebooted into 4.2.2.

    Nexus is different. If it screws something up you can flash back to factory images.
