Re: First Tegra 4 Benchmarks Appear!
I was astounded on how high these benchmarks are. even if you factor in some fluctuation based on hardware and what not these benchmarks show a masssive improvement over the tegra 3 and beat the crap out of the snapdragon 600. I can't wait to get a tablet with this processor in it.

Re: First Tegra 4 Benchmarks Appear!
Let's wait and see what they're like in a real device constrained by power management software. They won't be nearly that high.

I'm an NVIDIA Tegra Champ. Here's what that means. It means that from time to time I might receive products and/or services from NVIDIA to evaluate them and provide feedback to NVIDIA and you, our valuable members. What this does NOT mean is that my opinion will be biased. Any opinion that I express here and elsewhere are solely based on my personal preference and any relevant expertise that I may/may not have on the subject matter. - 02-25-2013, 01:06 AM #5
Re: First Tegra 4 Benchmarks Appear!
Doesn't matter. OEMs will build in power management software that WILL affect benchmarks, not to mention skins and their associated services. Tegra 3 had similarly high benchmarks, and didn't quite live up to the hype once it made its way into the wild.

Re: First Tegra 4 Benchmarks Appear!
Don't blame poor performance on nvidia then. They're showing it can perform just fine without extra power management thrown in. I'm with you in that I want to see it in a real device, though.
How did T3 not live up to the hype? Do you have a T3 device? I have the TF Prime and Nexus 7. The only time either one is slow is when the NAND is being sequentially accessed. And that has nothing to do with the T3. It has everything to do with the slow NAND that was chosen by Asus/Google. The interface is plenty fast enough for better performing NAND.

Re: First Tegra 4 Benchmarks Appear!
I think JHBThree is right because Tegra3 was confined to tablets. Tegra4 will also have higher benchmarks than Snapdragon, but Snapdragon is used on both phones AND tablets.
I think we have to wait for Tegra Grey to come out before we can get a truly even playing field
