Just thinking about the staying ability of all the existing OS's in todays rapidly changing smartphone landscape today, now that we have Android, iOS, BB10, WP8, Ubuntu, Sailfish, Firefox OS, Tizen etc all wrestling for marketshare and something occurred to me - of all of these, which company has the strongest ability to tap into what consumers want? Google of course. They're the only company on that list who have the capability to datamine the most popular searches on the web courtesy of Google Search and pass that information on to marketing and R&D. If you want to topple Android as the most used smartphone OS in the world, you're going to have to topple Google as the most used search in the world. What do you think, good or bad theory?

I think the biggest threat will come from within. Amazon and Samsung both have the funds and loyalty to successfully fork Android.

Android's success happened because there was a void. I don't see that void know, well maybe in the tablet side.
