I hope there are a few users of BackCountry Navigator here. If so I can use some help about importing maps or getting better quality maps thru the applicaton. I've gotten the ones available under USA: Imagery, and USA:Topo maps and charts.
In both cases the maps are nearly useless as backbacking maps since they do not resolve down enough to be very usefull. Or rather when resolved down they appear to have a thin layer of milk of over them... They appear hazy and not much detail. In short the maps really suck.
Comparing those maps to google maps (in satellite view) really shows their shortcomings... there is a truly vast difference.
I'm a little leery of the $26 dollar (Accuterra) maps since the others are so bad.
So, cutting to the chase, how can I import custom maps into bcn? Importing gpx files is obvious but they do not seem to include the maps
There appear to be a couple of ways to make your own maps... but I couldn't make head of tails of them.
If anyone here is experienced with bcn please respond.
