Default Are RSS readers a risky investment?

Over the past year I have bought quite a few RSS readers.
Most died off along with Google Reader but the ones that did continue seemed to have since ceased development.
The last one I bought was Reader+, which has various bugs and shows no sign being updated with fixes (last updated in August).
Along with that I have moved away from Feedly and on to InoReader so I have been looking at app options for Ino.

The two Ino compatible apps that most fit my needs are News+ (by the Greader developer) and D7 Reader.
D7 seems like a one-man-job that could cease at any time but is pretty cheap. News+ looks the most likely to carry on development but is more expensive and way more app than I actually need. Plus, at the moment, News+ has some sync issues with InoReader so I suppose I am trusting more in the extension developer than the app developer?

    Thoughts?

I haven't used any RSS Readers since Google Reader was taken off the map so I don't have much insight here. But I'm sure there are some other RSS Readers that are around. Maybe someone else has some more info. If any good ones are out there, I might try them myself. But I don't think I would pay for one.

A lot of the good readers seem to have gone by the wayside. And there are very few currently compatible with InoReader.
Most if not all have free versions I just prefer to pay to get rid of ads (and to feel like I'm supporting the developer if it's a really good app).
Just don't want to keep on paying for apps that seem to die off as soon as I decide to buy em
