Indeed, looking at the research results, the evidence is quite painful. Apple's brand value has diminished by 20 percent to a mere $148 billion. Meanwhile, Google's has soared by a fulsome 40 percent to $159 billion.

The article says it all... the global view is that Google is the one driving innovation.... while Apple is basically resting on its laurels.

They aren't hungry anymore. They don't need to be. They have trained a generation to want less and pay more for it. They have no incentive to innovate.

Of course eventually their image well will run dry. It's happened before. But they will make Billions more before that happens.
