Well Facebook got some stick about there messenger app
But i think this is allot worse
Vodafone uk a wile back lanched a app called Messanger +
see
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vodafone.messaging
Now on the whole for some this was a Naff app see the feed back
now this came after Google launched there sms app
so for others they were left wondering whats the point so they never bothered downloading this
six months on HTC one users start reporting on there eforum that they received a update
see
Rich Communication Suite - HTC One - Vodafone eForum
and were asking what a messanger app caled RCS was
RCS installed and took over the stock messanger app and did not allow users to use the stock app
at no point Did Vodafone alert there users to the change unless they did a Factory wipe at this point there is a terms and conditions to accept before completion of the Factory reset.
Now for many they never even noticed (ummmmm strange) until there was a update and the app failed to work
This is when alarm bells started to ring and customers to to the eforum
i had a customers with this issue on ispection of this app it is constantly running in the background using your data and battery
and i recognised that it was the messanger+ app under a new banner
now for many they avoided the Messanger+ app as they did not like the Permissions well Vodafone even has T&C for the app see
Terms and conditions – Vodafone Messenger – Vodafone
why they felt the need to do this is strange
Now fare enough hands up to Vodafone for trying this BUT!!
for many they would carry on using this and trusting Vodafone many as the last statement on the T&C
"This service is being provided by Vodafone Limited, Vodafone House, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2FN. Registered number 1471587, UK VAT Number 569953277. Vodafone is regulated by the Office of Communications (Ofcom), the regulator for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services or their replacement from time to time. For more information on Ofcom go to their website.

it states that Vodafone are running this
errrrr NO THERE NOT!!!
the App and the running of this are controlled by a third party company called Joyn
see joyn | Rich Communications who do not hide the fact
so
RCS and Messanger+ are controlled by a third party plus HTC one users are being forced to use this app
The T&C do not apply to RCS even tho its the same App but HTC one user private messages are all going by a third party
This is not good :-\
