Can you recommend me a good budget Android smartphone? I want to make a gift for someone, without spending a lot of money, that is why I am asking. Thank you.

If Metro PCS was a possible destination for your friend or whatnot, the ZTE ZMax is on sale for $99 on their site.

Nice big phone

Get a Galaxy S3. It's a bit outdated now but was built to be one of the best phones out so you wouldnt be getting a "budget phone" and they are very cheap now.

I recommend looking for a older flagship as mentioned above.. maybe a 2013 moto x, galaxy s3/4, lg g2.. all have lower prices now and are great bang for the buck. Moto g is am excellent choice too.

Go with the first gen Moto G.

I know it may seem a bit obtuse buying a phone from two years ago, but it runs way better than either the 2nd gens of the Moto G or E, and has a way better battery life than the 2013 Moto X.

It sounds kind of ridiculous to say given its price and age, but it's still one of favorite phones ever.

What is your budget? $100? $200? $300? $400? There's a vast array of choices for each price bracket for you to choose from.

I just bought a 2014 Moto X, retail is $300. I think it's a great compromise between budget and performance. Not slow enough that I would hate using my phone sometimes (like my old Moto G). But not too expensive that I would cry in my sleep one year from now when the resale value of my phone is less than half of what I paid for it.

I never buy top tier flagships, they're overpriced in my opinion, and I always go with prepaid plans. I'm currently on Cricket Wireless's $35/month plan which has unlimited talk/text/2.5 GB of LTE data. Upgraded from Republic Wireless's $10/month unlimited talk/text/0 GB of data lol.

I'm a cheapskate though, I'm all about saving money. I'm actually saving to buy my house in cash so I don't have to pay a mortgage for the rest of my life, but that's another story...
