My Moto X Gen 2 needs to be replaced under warranty. When I elected the "Advanced Replacement" option with credit card hold I was told there is a $29.95 fee. I had a warranty replacement a few months back and no fee. Really pissed at Motorola/Lenovo.
I have owned 8 or 9 Motorola phones over the years, in fact 3 in my household now but I will never purchase another because of this sleezy fee.
Buyer beware!
My Lenovo , smarten up!

If you're under warranty, the carrier can also swap your device. The carrier stores (corporate ones, not authorized dealers) usually have a stock of factory refurbished/reconditioned devices (not going to lie, you're getting this from Motorola also) and can swap your device in-store. That's how it is or has been with Verizon. No waiting for one to ship to you, provided it's in stock, no fees, just walk in with a non-working device and walk out with the replacement. If you did MotoMaker, that's a whole other story.
