As many of you guys have seen, the Android Central app now has the long-awaited UI-overhaul that adopts Google's Material Design guidelines and here's my feedback on it. Note that it's only available if you are part of the AC beta group and yes, this is a beta.
First off, the design is slick. It maintains consistency with all the other MD apps on my phone and all the animations and stuff are what you would expect from MD. The colored notification bar is also very welcome as it was missing for far too long in the old Holo-style app. Overall, looks pretty slick and it performs well too. Not to mention the dark theme is still there, which is happy news for many.
However, let's nitpick a little.
First off, the grey background and white text combo needs to be fixed. It's very hard to read and it's a total eyestrain. However, I'm pretty sure the developers are already hard-at-work in solving this as we speak.
The hamburger menu also needs some work. The very top of the menu should overlay the title bar (IE: The solid color bar just below the notification bar), as per Google's guidelines AFAIK. Also, having your avatar on that part would be a nice touch.
These are the hamburger menus on Google apps.
Maybe extra customization would be nice like changing the color of the top bar.
So far, these are what I have, but more feedback will be coming soon.
