Google produced the new stats today showing the percentage of users on each android version. These show that 7.8% of users are still on 1.5 & 1.6. Now, I am assuming here that those people are
a) On devices that have not been officially updated beyond that point.
b) Unable/unwilling to root and get a higher version ROM.
c) Stuck on a contract and unable to upgrade.
or possibly just
d) Ignorant of android's upgrades (this would include many who use the phone as a smart dumbphone, i.e. it can do facebook & twitter and thats all they want)
So, My question is how long till these phones disappear from the statistics? I know that Canadians have 3 year contracts and I think they still have phones with 1.6 for sale up there but can anyone confirm that. I don't think there are any phones available with less then 2.1 here in the UK and our standard contract length is only 18 months so we will be clear of pre 2.0 fairly soon. Can anyone shed some data on this?
