Ok, so how do I stream 4k to Ultra?

I installed the Chromecast Ultra. Works fine, sorta. When I boot and see the "G" logo my TV says it's being displayed in 2160p which is 4K. After that bootup it reverts to 1080p and stays there. I've tried casting 4k YouTube videos but it never displays it in 4k, always in 1080p.

Is YouTube 4k not supported? What other streaming can I try.

My Ultra is connected via an Ethernet cable, I'm not using wifi. My Internet speed is 30mb.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm -- Are you able to stream 4k via other devices consistently? As in you can play it and move around on the video without issue? It could be the Chromecast doesn't see it as fast enough and is toning down the quality due to the connection.

Netflix has some 4k content if you have Netflix.

I don't have any other 4k TVs or devices so I can't try it elsewhere.

I have Netflix but don't pay the $2 extra per month for 4k.

It'll display in whatever resolution the content is in. If you send 1080p that's what will display. Mine works fine with 4K content.
