Update:

To get Chrome tabs on a 2013 Haswell Macbook Air to stream nicely, you need to turn off hardware acceleration. Settings>Advanced settings>Scroll all the way down to System and make sure hardware acceleration is turned off.

Because BETA. :)

Original:

I haven't gotten it to not look like crap every single time, on any of the settings. :-/

Looks great from a Chromebook pixel though.

I only have a CR-48 Chromebook and I still can't figure out how to make it work with Chromecast yet.
Oh... wait... perhaps it doesn't work the the CR-48? :(

Resolution thing, maybe?

How do I see the Chromecast on my CR-48 Chromebook's Chrome browser?
(never thought I'd be saying "Chrome" three times in one sentence) :)

Just figured it out... unfortunately, the CR-48 was a beta Chromebook,
so its CPU is SEVERELY under-powered. Reading stuff on the browser
is fine, but streaming any Flash video grinds the CR-48 to a halt. :(

it seems to be decent on my 2011 13' Macbook Pro
my only issue is that it doesn't quite fit.

Yeah, but it's on the same network as the Pixel, which looks GREAT.

very small print at the bottom of the chromecast page
"Chromecast is compatible with WiFi-enabled Android 2.3+ smartphones and tablets; iOS 6.0+ iPhones, iPads, and iPods; Chrome for Mac? and Chrome for Windows?; and Chromebook Pixel. Power cord required (not shown)."

Through the Chrome Browser on a Windows 7 desktop, it looked great. Maybe it's a Mac thing? :-\

Real interested on this since using our "Airs" was to be a primary use for the device. I'm way out on my ship date so it will be awhile for a try at it.

Or just a Macbook air problem since it works on a Pro.

it looks the same on my
Macbook Pro (Mid 2011 i5 running OSX 10.8.4)
Hackintosh laptop (Core2Duo running OSX 10.8.4)
Windows desktop (some insane AMD cpu running Windows 7)

Works fine here. Watching SNL on Hulu right now.

Excuse the crummy pic, N4 and it's a dim room.
