SimpLink Problem (Off vs On)

I've read a lot of forums but can't find the same problem :

*My chromecast is plugged into the wall
*SimpLink is enabled on my LG 50PK550 Plasma TV

If my TV is OFF and I cast something from a browser (I.E. youtube) it will turn the TV on, change off whatever input it was on, and start playing. Success.

My problem is it can't change the live TV. If I have been watching tv for an hour and try to stream a video through YouTube/Plex from any of the devices (laptop, desktop, android phone, or tablet) while the TV is already on, nothing happens. I have to manually switch inputs and it will be playing, but it won't change for me. Why would it work when the TV is off, but not change inputs when the tv is on?

Because when the TV is off and you cast something it knows you are trying to view whatever is connected to that port. When the TV is on, all it knows is that there are 2 active devices connected. It has no way of knowing which one you want.
