Chromecast won't connect

I got a Chromecast for Christmas but can't seem to make it work with our TV. It will connect to the HDMI port of our Pioneer PDP-R04E. A message pops up for about 1 second acknowledging the Chomecast is connecting then it reboots. The Chromecast itself seems OK, I've connected it to the TV in my son's room and it works fine there. I've shut the TV down and restarted it, I've factory re-set the Chromecast. Nothing. Any ideas?
