Netflix starts playing after I turn off tv

I have noticed sometimes I pause something on netflix I am casting to my tv from my nexus 7, it will start playing again when I turn off my tv. does anyone know why this is? It seems to be me turning off the tv that triggers it to resume playing. I have the cec turned on, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I would guess CEC sends a signal to the CC which sends a signal to the casting site[netflix] which resumes play on the original device

I wander if its from a recent update? Because it didn't start doing this until just recently, and iPad the CEC function turned on for longer.
