Verizon Nexus One hardware improvements

Technology changes every week so you know better things are always around the corner, that goes without saying. The big question is will you be upset if Google/HTC improves the hardware say with a trackpad or any other improvement for it's release on Verizon in a short time or when a similar device hits AT&T?

Just wondering if something changes will you be upset?

No. It is very unlikely there will be any hardware modifications (other than to the radio to switch it to CDMA) for the Verizon launch later this year.

So you'll be getting the same hardware you can get now.

I see some changes happening to this device between then and now. No way they release the device exactly as it is now.

I didn't ask if there was going to be any just if you would you be upset for jumping on the T-Mobile version.

I would also not be so sure about no improvements...

I fully intend on selling my T-Mobile N1, and switching to Verizon. This is the beauty of buying unsubsidized... Freedom.

If they remove the trackball and use something else, or nothing at all, it would be a big disappointment, especially to those of us who paid full price.

No i won't get upset. That is the way it works in tech. There is always something better just around the corner. this phone fills my needs now and I am happy with it.

Absolutely... and for the record i have not at all been impressed with T-Mobiles network...

I'm hoping Verizon hurries along the N1 on their network. I can't wait to make the switch.

I also have a second phone (Touch Pro 2) on sprint for work.... Although i rarely use it anymore with Google Voice forwarding calls to both phones.

I'd only be upset if they found that the 3G issue could not be fixed and that only the Verizon models and GSM units that they sell from that point on will not have the issue.
At this point, I could care less if its a trackpad, only use the trackball to play snake anyway.

Now I'd be much more upset if there were software improvements

dude... it's literally few weeks down the road from showing up on VZW ... there's no way it will have any hardware differences other than a CDMA radio (Vodafone should be identical to current Nexus, as it's networks are GSM 900/1800/UMTS 2100)... retooling alone for any hardware changes would take MONTHS... let alone all the logistics and timing surrounding that for distribution... Trust me... the VZW Nexuses (Nexi?

) are already in boxes waiting to be shipped out... probably sitting in U.S. warehouses as we speak....

either way im waiting to upgrade my work phone until this comes out on vzw. Have a droid and an N1, my wife will be pissed, she already thinks i love my driod more than her. I think it would be great if they put a trackpad on it ditched that silly glowing ball...

I doubt it, the way it was released made me think that Verizon agreed to the phone only after all the hype was building up surrounding the eventual release. I think they just joined the bandwagon a little late and thats why they have to wait. I'm guessing that they're still tinkering with the CDMA versions and that they won't start actual production until April-May. Something gives me a feeling we're going to see Pre Plus and Pixi Plus-esque upgrades.

For the price that Google will charge for this, I'd actually hope that they include an LTE radio, for 4G, when it's ready (and then they'll also be ready to have a phone for AT&T's 4G network as well.) If I'm going to pay that much for a phone, I'd want one that has the technology I'm going to want in 18 to 24 months, too.

who knows... since they have CDMA coming in a few weeks... maybe they also have an LTE planned for a little later... if HTC was smart, they made the radio modules somewhat modular for easy reconfigure for different markets/carriers/technologies.... but nah!!... that would make too much sense!

Do you guys think the Verizon nexus will be any different than the original. I am not only speaking of the outside hardware. Considering the problems that the T-mobile version had, do you think these will be addressed in the newer version. I am hoping all 99% of the bugs will be worked out for the Verizon nexus one. I say 99% because there will always be bugs and no phone is perfect.

Anything T-mobile carries has been disappointment. Surprised the N1 went to a company who always lost money and btw has one of the worst Customer Service. I say Big Red will have to carry the weight to bring N1 to supreme but I am sticking with my droid.LOL

Tmo - from 3 years ago when I had them, and today, always rates near the top in independent surveys. Sprint (again back then, though they've made efforts to improve) is at the bottom.
I never had connectivity issues back then, and tmo's customer service was more helpful and knowledgeable about porting my phones to Cing/now ATT than Cingular was. Latest survey results bear this out:

That said, I'm not married to ANY carrier - past my subsidy commitment at least. It is all in the price/performance ratio for me in daily use. I don't like poor customer service, but honestly I usually get whatever is technically possible from any of them because I just wear them out - in a polite way - if required.

Of course, surveys don't matter much to individuals, but they are helpful to folks who have NOT had trouble when considering a provider switch.

But, more on-topic, I EXPECT anything more than 6 months old to be at/near the edge of it's time on the top of the technologically advanced heap. Buying laptops got me over buyer's remorse ages ago - same deal, 6 months and the next fastest processor is out. As others have mentioned, it seems too quick for different hardware for the N1; the product numbers in the FCC approvals may give a hint. If the progression from t-mo to vz to att all look the same or all increment by 100 (or whatever), that's one thing; if they increment a different digit in the sequence, that *could* be a hint, or not!
