I'm getting a nexus 4, planning on using it as a Wifi hot spot while traveling in India (I live in US, on at&t). Anyone ever done this, is it as simple as it seems? Assuming Indian mobile operators aren't as stingy as AT&T, that is.

I'm not familiar with the carriers in India, but unless they're doing some weird packet sniffing (or UAstring detection) to detect tethering, they won't be able to tell because you're using an unlocked device.

Just turn it on in the settings menu.

I believe the question is "is setting up the wi-fi hotspot easy", then yes very easy. Bluetooth tethering is also possible and its less work but slower.

Whatever you do, its a better idea then the cafe' internet. My brother was saying it was worse then dial-up then again he was working in the slums.
