By the way, how can I get rid of the navigation buttons on widget locker? Do I need root for that? If so I might finally have to. First time to not root my phone right away. Haven't seen a reason to till just now

Most likely UCCW widgets. It comes with the ability to have "counters" for missed calls/texts/Gmail. I just got into these last weekend and these are BY FAR the best widgets to customize your smartphone with. Head over to MyColorScreen too and see so many awesome setups. I'd say at least 75% are using at least 1 UCCW widget on their home or lock screen
