iFixit reveals LTE radio in teardown.
During the routine tear down of every new device iFixit gets they saw something that nobody was expecting in the teardown of the Nexus 4. Apperently, the phone has on-board a Qualcomm WTR1605L Seven-Band 4G LTE chip. I have no clue what it is doing there or if it has possibly been modified. All we can do now is speculate, and maybe hope...
Thanks

iFixit reveals LTE radio in teardown.
Not unexpected since the modem it uses supports LTE. Is useless without the software to enable LTE though.
Re: iFixit reveals LTE radio in teardown.
Maybe they will enable it through a software update when T-mobile's LTE network goes live. Maybe that's the little surprise in store. Wouldn't that be something.
Re: iFixit reveals LTE radio in teardown.
It's a 7 band LTE radio. It supports all of the major carriers LTE bands.
Re: iFixit reveals LTE radio in teardown.
Yes, the LTE radio is there.
What isn't there is the antenna and amplifier to actually make it work.
The chipset includes the radio for LTE, which explains why its there. Not to mention that its the same component being used in the Optimus G, which likely cuts down costs.
Unless an OTA can somehow install new physical hardware inside your phone, it isn't going to enable LTE.

I know very little about the technical things here, but people on [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]seem to disagree that it requires an additional antennae (the claim is that it's included in the chipset).

Getting a 404 error... Figured it out. I think the number in the URL doesn't need to be there. I took it out and kept the rest and it got me to the right thread.

Yeah. That. :p
