Too many people congesting the network, huge smartphone adoption, no place to put towers, tons of tall buildings blocking signal... Recipe for crappy speeds, no matter the carrier.

Guess I can contribute too. I'm an hour north of Atlanta and I have pretty good coverage, according to T-Mobile coverage maps, wherever I go except where I work.

Yes. T-Mobile Prepaid, as well as MVNO's that run on T-Mobile, get HSPA+ 42.

Almost broke 30 down earlier today in Eugene, Or. I usually get 15-20 down and 2-3 up.

What do you use to check the speed on T Mobile are you using an app or is there a hidden feature on 10 T Mobile's info pages

Too lazy to post a screenshot.

Los Angeles 90024 (Westwood). Signal around -90dBm (4 bars), average of 3 tests run around 6pm PST today is 16Mbps down and 2.8Mbps up. Hell yes!

My Exhibit II, which is supposedly an HSPA+ device as well got an average of 3.5Mbps down and 2.5Mbps up. Same SIM, exact same spot.

Try removing the proxy address and the proxy port. I did that for the ST AT&T Sim. Speeds are better, and I can run speed tests.

Can't wait till N4 is back in stock, my dad is ordering two: One for my sister and one for I and I can't wait to get off of Sprint's/Virgin Mobile's ty speed where I get 42kbps down and 230kbps up with 4 bars of 3G speed.
Man, 15+Mbps is what I'm expecting in Brooklyn/Manhattan, NY and with a phone as awesome as a Nexus 4....

As I said on another thread, I expect I'll sacrifice some speed for better coverage and building penetration on AT&T's network.
Do you drop your signal often in DC? Are parts of town better than others? I would have to leave Verizon to have the N4. And until i'm able to order one and test it out any help or suggestions are welcome.

Remove the "proxy" line in your APN. overall just a good idea on ST for better performance.

Even Verizon phones can drop a lot of calls in Chicago. Whether you're on the street on on the balcony of the 54th floor of an apartment building.

I see. Don't suppose you plan on swinging by the Northshore any time soon? :P

I guess I could always just go to a T-Mobile store and do a speed test on one of their phones but I don't trust in store speeds. Never know if they have some kind of MicroCell to make you think coverage and speeds in the area are good when they're not.

My buddy's s3 on tmobile Chicago ranges from 3 to 15MBs, that's what ultimately swayed decision to pass on an lte phone.
