Lock Screen with a pin

In order to access my school email on an exchange account, I had to set up a pin number. I'm trying to figure out how or if I can use the lock screen widgets while also having a pin set up. I'm looking through the options but I can't see where to enable this function.

While I don't know the answer to your question, I did want to mention that you can use Touchdown or Moxier Mail to get away from using a pin on the lock screen. The pin entry is on launching of the app rather than unlocking the phone.

Ooh, just remembered Phil's video of the lock screen widgets... You can still use them.

Are you talking about the pin security on Android itself? Because I know the Widgets can still be used with the pattern unlock. I would guess it works the same way with a pin, but I don't know.

Yes, when accessing my exchange account it forces me to set either a pin or password

I'm not sure what to tell you other than they just work. You slide to the widget screen you want and then you have to put in your pin before it launches that app or allows you to set a new widget. Try it.

The problem is that I can't add a widget. When I turn the screen on it immediately has the pin screen on. I can't swipe left or right like I can on my non-pin Nexus 7.

Oh I see. Slide to widget screen, put your pin in, it will unlock to the widget screen, pick a widget, profit.

Yes, just tried it with my Nexus 7 with a pin. When you try to fiddle with the Lock Screen Widget the pin pad will highlight somehow, enter your pin, then mess with Lock Screen Widgets. Gawd I am so falling in love with Android it is... scary.
