Yep. Sometimes it does it rather quickly for me.

Yes, it gets a bit warm but not a lot. My theory is, since glass conduct heat well it could be dissipating more heat than the one which uses plastic or polycarbonate.

maybe its a good thing. it wont burn down the processor. its just my theory.

My iPhones haven't done it since version 3GS though.

I'm in agreement with you. I haven't found much to complain about with this phone, but the last time I watched part of a Netflix movie on this thing it felt like I could've fried an egg on the back. The bumper made it thoroughly usable, however, so no biggie. In contrast though I could watch a full movie on my iPhone 4S and the thing would barely heat up at all. Granted, I had to use a magnifying glass to see the screen lol, but, well... C'est la vie.

I have it, but I remember having it with my GS2 as well. It's nothing that bad, and happens if I play Angry Birds or something for a long period of time.

Heard about this problem from other guys, I don't have my own Nexus 4 but I think it's an issue that should've been fixed before shipment :/

I want to revisit this issue with all the new N4 users now.

Has anyone else seen this issue? I still have it and it happens if I am interacting with the device for periods of time longer then about 2 minutes or so.

overheating kind of? That's a huge problem (I think). What were you doing at the time? Anything processor heavy or just surfing the browser because I don't think that should happen if you were.

Mine doesn't really get very warm during regular use but it does get quite warm when charging.

Glass back. Conducts heat. Heavy usage while charging would be the easiest way to get it hot. Not really an issue. You have a quad core processor being protected by glass.

yeah, this! people seem to forget that this phone has a damn powerhouse inside it. When you watch a video it's driving an HD screen, that takes some CPU/GPU!

This has been reported by almost all nexus 4 users. Mines warm by the camera during heavy use or when I use navigation. Seems normal for this phone. If its overheating and switching off then get a replacement.

Mine gets warm while charging, or just browsing the web. That doesn't seem normal to me.

Not an N4 user, but as far as I understand the glass back is acting like a giant heat sink for the processor. I don't know if that was the intentional design or not, but that appears to be what's happening. Plus (as others have said) there is a quad core processor under there.

As well, the processor is thermo-protected. Meaning it will throttle itself if it's getting dangerously hot. If you continue to use it and internal temps climb beyond what it's pre-programmed "safe" levels are I would imagine it would force a power off/on cycle to completely shut down all load on the CPU/GPU. I don't see how this is an issue. Mind you I have not used one so I don't know how hot it does get. I do know my Gnex can get pretty warm if I'm pushing it hard (and it's overclocked to 1.5 instead of stock 1.2).

Navigating with Google Maps with the screen on makes the phone heat up a lot after an hour or so, but not enough to be concerned.

My Nexus 4 gets hot too, mainly playing games, but that's how all smartphones are. No biggie.

I used an app that continuously taxes the CPUs and GPU but I forgot what it's called. It was shown in another thread like this one.

After 10 minutes it was almost at 50 degrees Celsius and still climbing. Is that normal? It was crazy warm to the touch at 40 degrees Celsius and if it got to 50+ in my hand I couldn't hold it.

Just got mine 3 days ago and so far it appears perfect. No serious hard use yet, but it always feels cool to the touch. Maybe it is from one of the later batches. No problems at all so far.... fingers crossed!
