how to add extra icons to home sbar or whatever you call it

the bar at the bottom of the nexus 4 which has 5 icons, the messaing, phone, chrome camera and the menu at middle. HOW DO I ADD ANOTHER ICON IN THAT BAR? i need 6.

Use a different launcher. I haven't used the N4 yet but going off previous Nexus devices & the stock AOSP launcher what you got is what you get.

Check out Nova, very close to AOSP and you can add/change modify launcher dock, etc...

You can always add a folder there with as many apps in that folder as you please.

That is one option. Although I get the OP's point they just want that one more quick access icon "app" in the launcher dock.

Nova or Apex Launcher from Google Play store. You can put six icons or you can make the dock scroll left and right for more icons as well. Lots of options with a different launcher.
