    Default Launchers and the rest..

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Nexus 4, its is my first android device. I was previously on a bb.
Ive seen some of your guys home screens and they are pretty awesome.
Could someone tell me why not many people on here are using the GO launcher? Its the one that seems to interest me the most.
Also could anyone tell me the difference between the Nova, Apex and ADW launchers please.

    Thanks for your help

GO Launcher is feature-packed, but it's anything but light on the system. You're more likely to see lag vs using Apex, Nova, or Holo

Nova, Apex and ADW launchers are all launcher by different team. if you go here and search for these launchers you will get details about these launchers in description.

the main reason why i dont use GO launcher is because its too confusing. themes are apps all over the play store.

Nova and Apex is one app which let you customize and theme within the app. Apex will let you use other launchers theme as well.

I tried GO Launcher on my previous Android phone, and I found that Ticojpunk is right. I personally use Nova launcher because I find it runs very smoothly and it gives me easy access to all of the customization features that I want. It comes down to personal preference though, give a few a try and see what you like!

I would try NOVA and Apex launcher, they are detably the best (I think... not sure, I'm just hearing of those two a lot).

I like Nova Launcher although I haven't tried the others yet.

    Awesome Theme!
A theme tutorial with nova launcher if you want to use it.

Just curious. What do you see as the inadequacies of the default launcher that you think you may need a replacement?

-Lack of GLOBAL Badge Notifications (only Nova supports it with help from "Missed It!")
    -Organizing the App Drawer
    -Customizing icons on the Homescreen

If Google implemented those 3, I'd switch back to the stock Launcher. Until then, Nova Prime it is.

I dont find anything wrong with the default launcher, its perfectly fine. Its just that people have created such different and interesting homescreens that no two are the same. I think i would quite like the feel of the personlisation available. Also am i right in saying that a different launcher is needed if I want to use other widgets?

I used Go Launcher for years and recently switched to Nova. I really liked the way Go incorporated their add on widgets and other tools for settings and customization. But I definitely noticed a significant speed increase with Nova. It's more streamlined.

If you like to play then you can go nuts with customizing and nested folders.

Here are a few videos from one of my favorite YouTube channels. This guy does some really cool stuff with launchers and custom backgrounds. They get more crazy as you go down.

Also remember that I'd you an on rooting many Custom ROMs have a more feature packed launcher built in. I'm come to like Trebuchet (the CyanogenMod launcher)
