Android 4.2.2 update reportedly arriving on Galaxy Nexus phones, Nexus tablets Why would it come to the Galaxy Nexus first before the Nexus 4?
Maybe to be the test dummy?

Yes, it will update. if you have custom recovery all you need to place it on the phone and flash it with CWM recovery.
if its stock recovery adb sideload the install to your phone.

I want it to update my glass to be stronger, an option to fix scratches/cracks, and a self destruct button in the update.

Funny, I saw a buddy who works at Google Saturday night and I off handedly asked what his phone was running and he answered "4.2.2". Didn't seem too different.

How about a update to overall efficiency of the Android OS? With minimal use, no GPS, no Google services, etc, the OS typically gobbled 40% of my battery drain. I average 14 hours which for a smartphone I'm told is alright (vs my bb that lasts 4 days...), but the OS shouldn't beworking so hard at nothing.

This is not Apple. This is Google they never do that.
Apple probably would have come with a fix.

You said something about adb recovery. I know what adb is but can you elaborate on the commands and process? Thank you.

I'm stock-rooted and just successfully flashed the update; however, after rebooting, I needed to disable SuperSU and uninstall/reinstall Busybox to get root back. All appears good now.

I just got it. It's pretty cool that it now shows the time remaining of a download in the status bar, and that you can now toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth by long pressing them in quick settings. But you know the one improvement they could make that I would actually use and benefit from: rotation control in the quick settings. I have it on my Nexus 7, why don't I have it on my Nexus 4? I just don't understand. And if I change the DPI on my nexus 7 to that of a phone, I lose rotation control as well. Does Google think that phones don't need rotation control?

Hmm Google/LG were obligated by law to remove the capability, since it was never certified LTE. if they have to keep it they will probably have to re certify it.
