    I have some videos that I would like to upload to my Nexus 4 and I would like to know the official format and size for conversion.

    I found the needed information to convert your files.

    Best Video Formats Supported by Google/LG Nexus 4:
    Video Format: MP4, H.264, H.263
    Video Resolution: 1280 x 768 pixels
    Audio Format: MP3, WAV, eAAC+, AC3

    use mx player from play store. it plays almost 99.9% of all video file formats

    VLC player is also available. It plays anything. Android isn't the same as apple. Many players for you to try.

    I've played almost every format on the Nexus 4 so far, only thing it seems unable to play is DTS audio streams, even in MX Player or VLC, converted the audio to 6 channel AC3 and it seems fine.
