Re: Updated APN setting
Hm, I am not getting near that kind of speeds even with the updated APN. Did you call ATT to reconfigure your account for 4G non LTE phone?

Re: Updated APN setting
I bought T-Mobile sim just to try their network speeds, and guess what, I am getting insanely fast data speeds. 13-15 Mbps down. Oh I wish I wasn't tide up in ATT contracts with my family plan.

Re: Updated APN setting
It is a myth that you need to call AT&T and change your plan from an LTE, to a smartphone plan. I'm convinced that most people just don't have the proper APN in place. I swapped sims from my GS3 to my Nexus 4, and only had problems until I got the proper APN. Once I got the correct APN, I was pulling 9-12mbps down on AT&T consistently.

Re: Updated APN setting
Here are my current APN settings:
APN: pta
mmsc:
mms proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN type: default,supl,mms,hipri
I didn't want to change my plan from the GS3/LTE plan to a 4g smartphone plan for a few reasons. 1. it's too much of a hassle, and 2. I didn't want to risk losing my unlimited data I've had since the first iPhone. Plus I just didn't believe that you'd really need to do so considering I can still get HSPA+ on my GS3 when LTE is out of range. I can verify that I regularly get speeds of 9-12mbps down with this APN, and AT&T still shows that I am using a GS3. If need be, you can change the APN from "PTA" to "PHONE" but PTA seems to work best for me. Hope that helps!Galaxy S3, and Nexus 4 owner trying to decide between the two...
