US N4 users: anyone with Ptel?

thinking about switching and wondering if anyone has had experience with Ptel... I'm on Tmobile now so its the same network, but how's call quality, data speed, etc?

I had never heard of Ptel until this post, but if you're on Tmo right now, why would you want to switch? The N4 runs great on Tmo. In my area, call quality is perfect and data speeds range between 9 and 20 mbps, depending on your signal.

I'm on the $30/month plan, but I usually run out of minutes halfway through the month... to me it makes more sense to pay an extra $10/month and have unlimited minutes and text plus 250MB of 4G data (Ptel) than to switch plans on T-mo and pay an extra $20/month for unlimited talk and text but only 100MB of 4G data.

I would think you'll burn through 250mb of data long before a month is up. Have you looked at the Solavei carrier? It's $45 to $50 per month for unlimited everything.

250MB of 4G, then you get unlimited throttled data... I have wifi at home and at school so I'm not worried, I just use a lot more than 100 minutes each month, and $0.10/min is crazy expensive when I go over

I have had PTel for just over a week now and I love it. I got the $40 unlimited plan and use my wifi at home for data. I haven't even used any data at all. In fact, I turned my Nexus S phone to only use wifi. Ptel offers coupon codes to get a free SIM with $20 off any plan costing $40 or more. I just purchased some more airtime yesterday and used PTELSLICK20 and it worked.

My husband is concerned that PTEL will go under. Does anyone know how financially secure they are? It appears that they restructured the beginning of the year. IF they are financially unstable then I would advise not purchasing too many airtime cards.

One other thing with PTEL, I filled out the request online to port my mother-in-laws phone over to PTEL and it is taking 3 days. I put the request in on Sunday night and today is Wednesday and her number still hasn't ported over from Verizon. When I ported my number over it only took 4 hours. I do know that they had a big sale last week so maybe they are swamped with porting orders. We have/had 5 lines with Verizon and we are all leaving to go with PTEL as soon as everyone's contract is up this summer. Their customer service is excellent and they speak English.

UPDATE

I found out that my mother-in-laws phone wasn't ported for 2 reasons. First PTEL had some issue which they now have resolved. And second the SIM that I put in her phone was no longer valid and they told me to throw it out. Luckily, I had an extra SIM from the PTELSLICK20 deal and installed that into her phone. Now we are waiting for Verizon to port her number over. My advice, if it is taking more than 2 days for them to port your number over please contact them there could be a problem. FYI, my number got ported in 4 hours!

You may want to consider using Google Voice and Groove IP to use your wifi or data to make calls. I rarely use my Tmobile mins anymore. Only use Tmobile network for business calls as the VoIP can be sketchy at times using data. WiFi is pretty much flawless.

BTW - 10 cents a min is actually ridiculously cheap for overages. It's 49 cents on Verizon.
