Network signal question

I was in a pretty rural area and my network signal changed to "G." Under settings, I found out it stood for GPSR1 or GPRS1. I came from CDMA so I've only ever seen 1x, 3g or WiMax... what exactly is "G?"

I didn't find it in that article, do you know what kind of bandwidth I could expect if the network weren't being used for phone calls?

Try this...

On your dialer, type the following... *#*#4636#*#*

Then select "Phone Information"

Scroll down to "Set preferred network type", you might see "WCDMA preferred" selected. Hit that to open the dropdown menu. Then scroll down the list and select "LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)".
That should fix your problem. I found this by googling and hit helped me even after changing APN settings.
