I'm pretty pleased with GoSMS Pro. Been using it for a few years now.
I had a play with quite a few yesterday and finally settled in Chomp. The conversation UI is gorgeous! And you can customise most of it :)

I like it as well. My only issue is sending picture messages. It doesn't recognize my full list of contacts. The stock message app does so with no problem thoughQuote:

I use Chomp as well, haven't noticed any issue sending pics, but I only do it every now and then.
chomp or gosms pro? which one is best?
Both are free. Why wouldn't you try it yourself. You're the only person to decide which is better for you.Quote:

I use "Sliding Messaging"--> [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] for standard SMS but need to switch to either stock or "ChompSMS"--> [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] when I need to send an MMS.
It's not perfect but I love the UI of "Sliding Messaging" too much to not use it on a regular basis.
I like CHOMP... allows me to make it look like iOS.
Can anyone explain WHY google does not do something like Chomp as default.. their SMS and email client are aweful... and no way to even cahge or customise.
I also like chomp
The stock messaging's interface is simply, svelte, and functional; the interface is very good (and has nothing to do with the issues you've raised).Quote:

Now as far as features go, that's a different story. GoSMS, Chomp, and Handcent are the popular apps.
There is no best, it's personal preference.Quote:

I would say the fact you can only see 3 lines of what you are typing is not very good...Quote:

Yes 10 lines good 3 bad, you would have thought this would be obvious to Google during the Testing Period or do they all have iphones , and why can't we choose display options and bubble colours etc........:'(
I like Handcent. Lots of customization options.
