I'm using a Straight Talk SIM on AT&T and when I'm with someone else who has an iPhone 4 or 5 with AT&T in a fringe service area, I have no bars and no service and they have 3 bars and service. I was wondering if anyone else had issues like this.

I'm using AT&T and my signal strength is fine. I have absolutely no concerns. I assume you have some concerns about your's?Quote:

I find very good, if not terrific signal strength.
Personally, I find that signal strength (both WiFi and cellular) is worse than on other phones I have owned and also when compared to friends' phones side-by-side. But, nothing I cannot live with.
In the case cited by the original poster, is it possible that the friend is actually roaming in the "fringe" service area? If I recall correctly, StraightTalk does not permit voice or data roaming, so that might explain the large difference in apparent signal strength.
Service for me on straight talk AT&T is a lot better on my n4 than it was on my note. About the same as my iPhone 4 which was excellent.

This is more than likely the issue if the original poster has no bars/service. One of the issues with most prepaid services is no roaming, which is one of the reasons why I choose Solavei over Straight Talk since they do have roaming. Not sure of any prepaid service on ATT that allows roaming on it though.Quote:

I've had my Nexus 4 for two weeks and everything has been perfect with T-Mobile over the past two weeks until starting on Friday. I get network lost or some apps and have to reload. No problem with calls yet.
I also have a Nexus 7 with T-Mobile and have the same problems on it that just started on Friday. Music streaming apps will just stop with a connection error. The signal bars will go to none on both devices.
I do not get any Tmobile signal inside my home. It is odd. If I stand next to a windows, then maybe 1 bar or emergency service only. It I stick the phone 1 foot outside the window with my arm then BOOM 3 or 4 bars and 3g or 4g. Really? 1 foot makes that big of a difference? I had Sprint before and always 4 bars inside my home and friends with AT&T get full bars in my home too. So I am thinking about switching over to Straight Talk with AT&T to see if my connectivity is any better. One thing I've noticed with my N4 and Tmobile is that service indoors is practically non-existent, but if I step outside it is excellent. The extreme difference is much greater than my experience with prior cell phones.
Every reception case is a snowflake, unfortunately. In my case, I get a little less service in my house, going near a window always solves it. I have taken quite a few calls from my house. None of them have dropped, nor has anyone told me i was breaking upQuote:

I am experiencing a somewhat similar issue. My wife has a Straight Talk AT&T sim in her iPhone 3GS and has pretty good coverage in areas my N4 has no bars/service. Did you ever figure out a solution?Quote:

yeah, ive noticed that with wifi on my TM signal suffers and with it off it improves. Im also noticing that in areas deemed "excellent" by the TM map im finding i have no data. I thinki im using the correct ANT default for the network but im not getting the results i was to expect.
