Using Bluetooth in my car. Is there any way to get track info to show?
Okay, I've learned from some astute members of this forum that stock Android doesn't support sending track information to my car stereo via Bluetooth. Seems like an important omission (it certainly is to me), but it is what it is.
So I wonder if any of you know of a workaround. An app, maybe, or some minor hack that get that track info to show up.

I would guess what you are asking for is a feature from your car stereo and not a hack. Not aware of any car stereo that does that but maybe it exists?

What I learned is that for some reason Android uses an older Bluetooth profile. Both my wife's iPhone and my Nokia 620 (Windows phone) send track data just fine to my car stereo.

My 2011 mazdaspeed doesn't do it either. But its the system not my phone.

Don't know how. My Nexus 4 and my iPhone 4s can't do this to my car.

I can't remember which protocol there is, but there is a part of the bluetooth stack made for this, both phone and stereo have to support it. AFAIK the N4 does not support it.

Here's the explanation and an interesting link from member Still1:
"Android is still on AVRCP, version 1.0. have seen many complaining about that.
here is a issue created in 2009 with many starring it. still no update to it [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
