Nexus 4 screen is too large for me

I got my Nexus 4 a month ago and loved it in the beginning but the more I use it the bigger the screen feels for one handed use. I love it when I watch videos or when I use it with two hands but the fact is I use it with one hand most of the time. I was wondering if there is a way (maybe a custom ROM) to cut half an inch from the top and bottom of the screen area for normal use and use the whole real estate for videos or on demand?

No, this is actually a good question. I don't know of any ROM or service that does this, but it'd be interesting if there was one.

Perhaps using a launcher to "customise" your layout a bit so that iut is more userfriendly for you to use one handed. That is a good idea, then you could put all your icons mid screen and just not use the top or bottom.

I'm not sure what ParanoidAndroid is like for the Nexus 4, but you could do a lot of adjustments on the Nexus S 4G version. Maybe you could adjust the elements so that they are much larger than the stock version, essentially making the elements that are hard to reach one handed a lot bigger and easier to manage?

I find it big as well. I have an iPhone 5 and I can use it with one hand just fine, but with my N4, I can't. I seriously think the 5" S4 would be way too big for me. I think 4.5 to 4.8 are my limits. But, I do wish the iPhone 5 screen was at least 4.5. 4" is too small.

There are still a few 4" phones out there but I think for the most part that 4.5 to 5" will be standard among regular smart phones moving forward.
