Google Nexus 4 won't connect to pc

I have been trying to root my n4 using nexus tool kit, but when I connect my n4 it will not recognize the phone I followed the trouble shooting in the help. The same thing also happens when I use carbon to back up. Using XP and Vista, I can see and add files and video to my phone using windows. Please help.

Delete whatever drivers you installed already and either try the universal naked drivers or try wugfresh toolkit. I used the universal naked on my Win8 pc

I have deleted and reinstalled drivers, but not naked drivers how do I get them. I have been using the toolkit.
