Text message tones

Hello all. So yesterday I went back to my N4 from my S4 (a switch I do not regret). I haven't used this phone in six months or more, so, needless to say, I am rusty on it. OK, so, I can't figure out how to turn on my text message notifications sound higher in volume without increasing the ring tone volume. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't know. It seems like when I increase the message tone volume, the ringer volume goes up as well, and at work, I can't have that happen. Thanks, I'm sure it's something simple I missed.

I don't think there is a way to do that. Maybe you can make your own tone that is louder than normal and use that.

Open Settings - Sounds. Adjust the various Sound levels there. Let us know how you read just to the Nexus 4.

The ringtone volume and notification volume are linked...don't think you can separate them. You can have different levels for ringtone and media or alarms but not ringtone and notification.

OK, well thanks. I tried everything, but can't seem to make message tone louder without turning up ringer tone. Oh well, worth a shot I guess.
