Rather bad image retention, anything I can do?

Have enjoyed my Nexus 4 for nearly a year now. I noticed image retention quite a while ago, maybe 6 months ago, but I didn't really think much of it since it was barely noticeable and vanished in a second or two. Unfortunately it's getting quite bad now. It clears after about a minute I think but it's taking longer and longer, and it is becoming MUCH more noticeable. I was going to sell the phone to upgrade to the Nexus 5 but now I'm not sure I will.

Is there anything I can about the image retention at all or maybe something I can do to keep it from getting worse?

Have you tried a factory reset?

My one year is coming up in a few weeks and I've been contemplating swapping mine out for a few months now. I just never knew if Google would so I never bothered wasting my time.
