I have still been trying to fix my problem with syncing . I have about 900 in my ' people' contacts but only about 400 are synced to gmail contacts. I have been trying to find a way around it . looking at sync, Dropbox etc. Still no solution but now I seem to have managed to get people entries to multiply themselves so that for some but not all entries it repeats so that eg the entries for office phone, fax,home phone, mobile are repeated over and over in a long list .I have no idea why this is happening but now I am further than ever from sorting out my original problem which was saving all my 'people' contacts so I don't lose them if I upgrade my phone. Google seems to think they should all automatically sync to gmail contacts but they don't. Help please.

Have you tried removing your Gmail account and setting it back up?

Settings>accounts>click gmail>click the gmail account>click menu>click remove account.

Under ACCTS there is no gmail only google. when I try to add an acct gmail is not an option
