Keeps shutting down

So I originally thought my N4 battery was shot. But then it shut off again today at 55% battery. The first time it happened, yesterday, the battery was at 25%. Is there anyway I can diagnose what the problem is?

I don't know that, but I don't think you should discount the possibility of a bad battery.

Is the phone really hot? Mine has shut down with a full or fullish battery because intensive processor-intensive tasks such as navigation raised the temperature to unsafe levels.
