126mb update out of the box

first thing the phone does is download a 126mb update after i turn it on via my home wifi...
seems strange, i thought all the phones shipped with the latest and greatest kitkat / system software?

it has kit kat out of the box but google can push updates anytime that are minor fixes and tweaks.

they build devices way before the software(KitKat) is finalized.
All initial devices will have the update but any devices build after the KitKat is finalized will have the latest software out of box

Yes, I received the N5 yesterday afternoon and it did the same thing. A year ago (well, maybe it was 49 or 50 weeks), I received one of the first Nexus 4's and it did exactly the same thing.
