SMS Alerts Issue

I have yet to be able to find anything on this, so I figured I would post this. If it's a duplicate, please forgive me.

While on a phone call, my SMS notification sounds do not go off. I get the text messages, but I don't realize the messages came in until after I have completed my call. Is there a way I can turm them on while on a call?? It isn't a HUGE issue, but if I get an important text while on the phone that I need to address immediately it can be problematic.

Bumping this to see if anyone else has encountered this. I am using Hangouts for my SMS and while on a phone call no SMS sound notifications go off. I only see i have a new SMS AFTER I hang up the call.

I am going off memory (and I use Textra) but my phone only vibrates when on a call. I do not remember any sound playing though.

HHMMM! I turned off vibrate when using sound. Maybe I will re-enable it and see how it goes. Thanks!
