Default Nexus 5 or HTC one M8?

Hi, I don't really know if this is the right place to post this, since it's the Nexus 5 Forum, but here goes. Please help me to decide, what to get. The HTC M8 or the Nexus 5, the price is not an issue, I'm more concerned about user experience, little tweets that one has and the other doesn't and overall usability. Like how do the notifications appear on the Nexus 5, I mean on the HTC they only appear on the top status bar and are not in any way reflected on the main screen, is it the same with the Nexus 5? I've watched probably all of the you tube videos and still can't really decide, I like them both) If you could just help me with an advice, that would be much appreciated.

The Nexus doesn't show any notifications on the lockscreen.

All things being the same, the Nexus is a great phone as long as front facing speakers are at the top of your list.

The M8 offers little to nothing that you will feel like your missing out on.

If you like them both equally, then get the Nexus 5. More likely to receive updates and will get them faster (and for longer) and it's half the price.

The only advantage the M8 has at this point is the stereo speakers. A lot of people like the metal case as well. I personally love the soft-touch plastic on the Nexus 5 though. It does have an SD slot, which IMO is a big deal.

The one clear advantage the Nexus has IMO is the camera...not only is it higher resolution, but the images will not look washed out like on the M8. The Nexus supports also wireless charging.

EDIT: These are all images I took with the nexus 5, using the stock camera, and unaltered. These are the raw images.

The Nexus 5's Optical Image Stabalization makes a big difference in the noise in the pictures...so you get very little graininess to them.

The Nexus 5 is still a high-end phone, and is half the price. You may not care about money, but it still doesn't hurt to save a few $$$. Plus you get stock android and the first to get updates.

I would also consider the LG G2 - currently heavily discounted ($499 off Contract, and as little as $49 on contract). This is the under the radar best phone of 2013. Snapdragon 800 (even the LG UI doesn't slow it down), Gorgeous IPS 1080P 5.2" screen, Small bezels results in a smaller body than the HTC One (M7 or M8), Galaxy S4 or S5, 32 GB memory (no micro SD but 32 GB (about 24 available) is enough for most people), if you need more it is USB OTG compatible, Radios second only to Motorola for good signals on phone and data, a little slick on the plastic so a case is recommended, Great 13 MP camera with OIS. 9 Months after release this phone still holds its own against the S5/M8. I might wait until after the 27th to see if you want to look at the LG G3. By the way, the Nexus 5 is built by LG.

The G2 is awesome and one of the few phones with a better camera than the Nexus 5. It's camera does everything the Nexus one does, but at 50% better resolution.

Only downsides are the weird button placement, and LG's UI skin. Which also means the UI is not as smooth or fast. LG is not great with support IMO either.
