I am hearing impaired and would like to be able to boost the headphone volume of my Nexus 5. I have seen warnings about "blowing out the speakers" but not much about just headphones. Can someone recommend a volume boost for headphones that does not damage the cell phone? My ears are beyond damage LOL.
    Thanks

I hear you man. The N5 volume is too low for me so I purchased a FiiO model EO2i and got to try it out on a recent transatlantic flight with my N5 and N7. I can highly recommend the FiiO if you don't mind the extra hardware attached to your phone.

If it is music you are interested in, you can try PowerAmp. Settings -> Audio -> Replay Gain (turn it on) then set the RG Preamp to some positive value and test.
