Apple's death grip (missing texts due to iMessage)

Very impressed that the Nexus 5 I ordered last night arrived today. Sadly, the sim in my iPhone 5s is too small for the Nexus and now I hear there is a problem with SMS thanks to iMessage.

Has anyone had any luck making the move and actually getting iMessage to no longer associate the phone number? I've tried all afternoon with no success.

I just found out this week that I haven't got one text message from my sister that has a iPhone in over 2.5 years since it was still going iMessage. So I logged into my old Apple account and deleted my phone number from the Apple site since I didn't see any phones to unregister.

Looks like Apple recently acknowledge the bug, and is fixing it

It's is certainly an annoying bug but it does sort out in the end
