Has anyone used their phone while traveling in Europe where the 900/1800 GSM band is prevalent? According to the Playstore, our phones support these bands. However, according to gsmarena.com the NA phones do not support these bands. They say only the international version does. LG Nexus 5 - Full phone specifications

I am going on a trip in September and was planning on using our 2 phones.

I have used my Nexus 5 (and a Nexus 4 before that) in Italy with a local TIM network sim card for both phone and data.

No problems at all.

All bands work in Europe, afaik. Including 4G/LTE where there is coverage.
The NA version supports different 4G bands to the rest-of-the-world version, there may be some overlap and 4G will work, but don't count on it. 2G and 3G should be fine though. AFAIK the 4G support is the only difference between the two versions.

I doubt you will notice it at all IRL.
