Google Search Constantly Crashing in Background

Ever since Tuesday morning on 10/28 Google Search app has been crashing repeatedly over and over again in the background. I did not think much of it first few times, but then yesterday and today it started becoming more frequent. It seems to be happening almost every hour. So I started doing some trouble shooting and caught the app running at over 500 MB of RAM!! Then of course it shortly after crashed. I have attached a screen shot of that, in addition to battery stats from overnight when I was sleeping, so everyone can see how often it is occurring as well. I have reported at least 8 of the crashes to the Google report option that comes up.

So far I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, and have tried clearing the cache on the Google Search app. Still has made absolutely no difference. I hope maybe someone else has a solution. If not I am hoping maybe others are experiencing this too which would point to it being a recent upgrade with Google Search app causing the crashing bug. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, would like to try to avoid resetting the phone if possible.
